Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Dale Axler, 49, of Calipatria, who died of cancer Saturday in Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Axler was born Jan. 9, 1952, in Brawley. He was raised in Brawley, attended local schools and graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1970.

Mr. Axler began working in agriculture for Emmanueli & Son and Ben-Co Cropdusting Services in Calipatria. He then worked for J.H. Flourney petroleum services and was last employed as a truck driver by Sellers Petroleum for the past seven years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time in the desert, according to family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Axler on Dec. 31, 1979.

Survivors include his fiancee, Lisa Thomas of Calipatria; father, Leo Axler of Brawley; sister, Leona Barber of Brawley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginger and Ken Swain and Judy and Toby Johnson, all of Brawley; numerous nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
