Abraham Axler, 67, of 26 Magnolia Circle, owner of Hatfield Beef Co. in Hatfield, died Saturday in Community General Hospital in Harris, N.Y.

Born in Greenfield, he lived most of his life in the Springfield and Longmeadow areas. He was a graduate of the former Technical High School in Springfield.

He served on the board of directors for the New England Meat Association and was a member of the American Meat Packers.

A member of the Kodimoh Synagogue in Springfield, he was active in their brotherhood. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Esotric Lodge of Masons in Springfield.

He leaves a son, Mark of Longmeadow; a daughter, Cheryl Axler-Dionisi of Longmeadow; two brothers, Samuel of Doraville, Ga., and Robert of Longmeadow; two sisters, Sylvia Stein of Springfield and Arlene Dole of New Seabury; and three granddaughters. A son, Jeffrey, died in 1982.

The funeral will be this afternoon at the Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel, with burial in Sons of Israel Cemetery , both in Springfield.

Memorial observance will be at the home of Cheryl Axler-Dionisi, 143 Quinnehtug Road, Longmeadow, with evening services tonight through Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Kodimoh Synagogue, 124 Sumner Ave., Springfield 01108.
