Ms. Axton's record company produced hits from acts including Sam and Dave, Otis Redding Jr., Rufus and Carla Thomas, Booker T. and the MGs, Johnny Taylor, Albert King, Rick Dees and the Staple Singers. Her son was musician Charles "Packy" Axton.
