Fred's father was named Fred Ayres. His mother was Mina Bell (born 31 March 1865 in Mount Morrison, Wisconsin ~ died 13 April 1954 in Waupaca County, Wisconsin). Fred was one of 13 children. The children were, Vernon, Orville, Walter, Claude, Raymond, Floyd, Fred, Belle, Edna, Charles, Harold, Mae, and Grayse.

Fred married Doris. Thy were the parents of Duane, Orpha, and Marilyn. (There may have been a son, Edward, who may have died as a child)

Fred and his family are listed on the 1930 United States Federal Census, Illinois, Cook, Proviso, District 2327. However, the census taker misspelled their last name. Fred Ayers (age 31) and his wife, Doris (age 24), son Duane (age 5), daughter Orfia (name misspelled age 3), son Edward (age 3 months). It states that Fred and Doris were born in Wisconsin, as were his parents. Looks like Doris' parents were born in Germany. There were 2 boarders in the home, Chad Ayres, & Harold Anderson.

Then in 1940, we see that the family has moved to 9719 Franklin Boulevard in Leyden Township,Cook County, Ill. The census taker correctly spells the surname "Ayres". Duane is now 15 years of age. Orpha is age 13. The youngest member of the family, Marilyn, is listed as a six year old. The child, Edward, is not listed in this census.
