Alexander L. Babcock, 81, a carpenter, contractor, and builder in Freeport since 1900, passed away at a local hospital Saturday night, January 13, 1945 after several weeks' illness. He resided at 633 West Galena Avenue. Funeral services will be held at the Eichmeier & Becker Funeral Home, West Stephenson Street, at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. Dr. J. H. Nightingale, pastor of First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. The body will then be taken to Waldwick, Wisconsin, his former home, where services will be held tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Waldwick Cemetery. Mr. Babcock was born in Iowa County, Wisconsin April 13, 1863. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lillian Reynolds in 1902. Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Mrs. J. R. Van Sickle of Durand and Milton Babcock of Decatur, Illinois. There is one sister, Mrs. Jack Skews, of Hollandale, Wisconsin. He was a member of Evergreen Lodge of Mason. Mr. Babcock had resided here since 1900.
