She was known as the Countess Laura Sala.

Laura Bayer Sala, nee Laura Bache Kayser, was an art collector and daughter of silk glove and hosiery manufacturer, Julius Kayser, founder of Julius Kayser and Co.

Her mother, nee Henrietta Bache, was also a collector (French decorative arts) and her uncle, Jules S. Bache (1861-1944), was a financier and art collector.

Laura Bache Kayser married Edwin Stanton Bayer (1870–1929) in 1895, and in 1933 she married the art dealer and former French diplomat, Count Antoine de Sala (1876–1946).
