ALLEN--On Saturday, August 18, 1894, at the residence of Dr. Rollin L. Thorp, Denver, Colorado, of dropsy, Mary Curtis Allen, aged 31 years, 8 months and 10 days. The deceased was born in Sacramento, California, but, when a child came to Colorado with her parents. Her father, Hon. William N. Bachelder, a sister, Mrs. R. L. Thorp, a brother, Fred S. Bachelder, and a son, Ned Patton Allen, survive. For more than two years past deceased had been an invalid. Her life is an example of unselfishness and from such a life there may be many a lesson learned. The narrowed mind, the mind shut in by the circumscribed boundaries of egotism and uncharitableness has, and can have, no realization of "A life well lived and a death nobly died." She gave her life to others, but of this not a word she spoke, and the world remained in ignorance of the magnanimity which caused her to delight in deeds of self-sacrifice. Patiently, uncomplainingly, she bore her suffering. The realization that the end of life was near at hand daunted her not, and without a murmur she accepted the decree of the Almighty Power. At time the cross laid upon her seemed almost too heavy to be borne, but cheerfully, and without manifestation of bitterness she passed through the clouds of adversity. She was a loyal friend, a broad-minded woman, and she was never known to manifest a spirit of revenge for personal injury. When stern-faced death appeared, and hovered near, the weary sufferer was wandering once more among the scenes of childhood, and with the friends and companions of other days, but death beckoned and she followed to the land beyond.
"Say, through what regions enchanted
Walk ye, in Heaven's sweet air?"

ALLEN-BACHELDER--On the evening of Nov. 25, at the residence of David Patton, Fort Collins, by Rev. D. E. Finks, Mr. By Allen and Miss Mary C. Bachelder. The wedding of Mr. Allen and Miss Bachelder was a most enjoyable affair, although quite private in its nature, only the immediate friends of the parties being present. The bride was richly and most becomingly attired in a maroon colored silk, beautiful long white veil. and orange blossoms, white kids, & c. (?) The groom was also looking his best on this happy occasion. Following the ceremony, an elegant and bountiful supper was served, to which assembled company did ample justice. The newly wedded pair begin house-keeping at once, in their new home. That prosperity may attend them, is the wish of all their friends.
