The funeral of A.S. Bacon, a prominent rancher of the Jelly Ferry section, who was accidentally killed Sunday afternoon while deer hunting in the Bee Gum section, was held yesterday afternoon at the Christian Church. The service was conducted by Rev. Shirley R. Shaw.
There was a large attendance of neighbors and friends of the family from the Jelly Ferry section and many in this city also attended the services. Interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery.
The following acted as pall-bearers: N.T. Heaton, J.M. Emerson, Martin Simonsen, Clarence Anderson, Walter Hunaeus, F.L. Jelly.
Bacon was mistaken for a deer by another hunter and shot through the body. He died before he could be taken into camp. A coroner's jury absolved the other members of the party from any blame.
