Beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend, Kathie Malgieri Bailey passed peacefully December 21, 2012, in Park City, Utah, following a brave fourteen-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Kathie was born February 16, 1953, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Betty Lotts and the late Frank Malgieri, Sr.

She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Malgieri, Sr.

Kathie was a 1975 graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career at Huff Consolidated School where she met Steven Bailey, her devoted husband of thirty-one years.

Kathie demonstrated both strength and grace during her valiant battle and was the pinnacle of courage to those who knew her sanguine story.

She was an active church member and an avid reader. Kathie will be especially remembered for her devotion to her friends and held dear to her heart their time together. Although her life may have been shortened, all who were touched by her understood that the longevity of life is far exceeded by the quality of one's life lived. Kathie counted her time in life-moments and felt fortuitous to have met each of those paramount milestones. Her courage gave others hope and her journey was a vivid reminder of the preciousness of life.

Kathie is survived by her mother, Betty Lotts, and stepfather, Judd Lotts, of Prescott, AZ; husband, Steve Bailey, of Baileysville, WV; two daughters, Erin Bailey of Park City, UT, and Debbi Bailey Lester of Troutman, NC; two grandchildren, Drew and Carson Lester of Troutman, NC; two brothers, Frank Malgieri, Jr., of Vacaville, CA, and Rob Malgieri of Westlake Village, CA; a sister, Sherry Held of Westminster, MD; and four nieces and five nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home in Oceana.

A celebration of Kathie's life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Oceana United Methodist Church.

Entombment will follow after a luncheon at Oceana United Methodist Church in Oceana at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Beckley, WV.

Those wishing to attend should meet family at cemetery at 2:30 in Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Wilson, Matthew "Pete" Lester, James Prater, Jamie Prater, Frank Malgieri, Jr., and Eric Held.
