Son of Ross and Eva Bailey of Sprague, Raleigh County, WV. John was married to Rena Mae Milam Bailey for 57 years. He quietly passed away in his sleep at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital after a short illness.
Although he spent the past few years living in Sprague, WV, John was originally from Prosperity, WV. He served in the US Navy for 20 years, retiring in Norfolk, VA. He took up a second carreer as a truck driver, mostly driving for Flowers Bakery. After retiring from there, he returned to Prosperity.
John was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife, his son "J.E.", sister Laura and brother Franklin.
He is survived by his brother Bill, son Roy, daughter Belinda (Hill) and sister-in-law Mary, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday September 8, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley with Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
