TEC4 US WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS - WORLD WAR II

Grand Lake Stream – Beatrice Norton Bagley, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at Calais Regional Hospital. Bea was born in Princeton on February 10, 1919, daughter of the late Roy and Alice (Norton) Bailey. She graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1936, and attended Emerson Hospital School of Nursing in Concord, Mass. working in the Boston area. She joined the Women's Army Corps November 12, 1942. She graduated from x-ray tech school and was stationed at the Army General Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado. Bea was appointed Postmaster by President Lyndon Johnson on November 15, 1965, where she remained for 20 years. She was the last career postmaster in Grand Lake Stream.


In addition to her parents, Bea was predeceased by her husband Llewellyn; her beloved son Frank Richard; infant daughter Mary Ann; three brothers Frank, Fred and Earl Bailey; three sisters, Laura Sprague of Princeton, Katherine Maros and Mary Sheck of Grand Lake Stream; and two brothers-in-law Percy Sprague of Princeton and Eugene Sheck of Maryland.


She is survived by many nieces and nephews.


Bea was a member of the Grand Lake Stream Union Church, Grand Lake Stream Historical Society, and the National Association of Postmasters. There will be a double memorial service for Bea and her son Frank Richard, who passed on April 18, 2011, at the family lot in the Village Cemetery, Grand Lake Stream.
