Bernice Bailey-Acord, a lifelong resident of Bolt died at Harper Mills Nursing Home on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 94. A homemaker, Bernice enjoyed quilting and traveling with her children. She attended the Glen White Church of God.
Born on April 28, 1923, she was the last surviving child of the late Larkin "Austin" Bailey (1887-1942) and Nancy “Mae” Snuffer-Bailey-Dickens (1895-1996). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harless Acord (1916-1970); a granddaughter, Lauren Wade (Died in 2017); and her siblings, Sada Frances Bailey-Snuffer (1912–1951), Ruby Alice Bailey-Daniel (1915–2001),
Vallie Jane Bailey-McGraw (1917-2013), Clinton John Bailey (1919–1981), Arnold Calvin Bailey (1925–2008), and Henry "Carmon" Bailey (1928–2003).
Bernice is survived by five sons, Dallas Acord, Sammy Acord & wife Cheryl Acord, and Arnold Acord & wife Sherry Acord all of Bolt, Ronald Acord & wife Betty Acord of Lester and Keith Acord of North Royalton, OH; four daughters, Joyce Acord-Jump, Ella Acord-Dougherty & husband Bernie Dougherty, and Brenda Acord-Entler all of Chocowinity, NC, and Judith Acord-Hauver & husband Carroll Hauver of Williamsburg, VA; 15 grandchildren, Gregory Osborne, Michael Osborne, Brian Acord, Ronald Wayne Acord, Jason Acord, Angela Acord, Kenneth Acord, Justin Samsel, Tanya Hwang, Krista Beckwith, Jeffrey Wade, Adam Acord, Heather Nicolau, Ryan Acord, and Aaron Acord; and a large extended family of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive as well.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The family is receiving friends at 1:00 pm. The burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
