(December 31, 1906 - November 10, 2006)

Della Bair, Frederic, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at the Frederic Care Center. She was 99 years old.
Della was born Dec. 31, 1906, in Mankato, Minn. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior for two years, putting herself through college as a maid at the Hotel Duluth. She majored in teaching. She married on Sept. 26, 1931, to F. Albert Bair. To this marriage four children were born, Floyd, Don, Ruby and June. They were married for 49 years until Albert's death in 1980. She and Albert began Bair's Auto Parts early on in their marriage at a location on the north edge of Frederic. In 1940 they purchased a farm south of Frederic, where Bair's Auto Parts was operated by Della, Albert and later joined by Don until Don's death in 1998. During those years, Della was also employed at the Frederic Ben Franklin from 1953 until 1963, then at the Sears Catalog store from 1963 until 1973. Della had many hobbies, including gardening, crocheting, sewing, quilting, polishing agates to make jewelry and she loved her flowers and plants. Della was an avid reader right up to the end, especially interested in alternative and herbal medicine. She also kept a close eye on politics and was well informed about current legislative issues. Delia was passionate about playing Scrabble and was determined and unwavering in her quest to beat opponents.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; sons, Don and Floyd and grandson, Mike Gibson.

She is survived by her daughters, June (Elroy) Nelson of Siren and Ruby Teasdale of Calif.; grandchildren, Lynett (Jay) Heyer, Laurie (Mike) Juleen, Dan (Marie) Gibson, Steve Gibson, Cindy Gibson, Nicky (Doug) Hansen; and seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ruby Rose, Tessa, Angel and Matthew, Chris and Daniel Johnson.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Frederic, with Pastor Mary Ann Bowman officiating. Della's nieces, nephew and their families served a lunch at the Golden Oaks Community room afterwards
