Funeral for Mr. Bartley Eugene "Boots" Balch, 68, of Decatur, will be today, Feb. 27, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Cagle officiating.
Burial will be in the New Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Balch, who died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital, was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Limestone County to H.E. Balch and Cecile Hunkapiller Balch. He was a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, a cabinet maker, and he attended Flint Baptist Church. He had a deep abiding love for his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. His parents, and two sisters, Shelia Earline Jones and Alma Jean Balch, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three brothers, Ed Balch and wife, Elaine, of Decatur, Paul Balch of Nashville, and Robert L. Balch and wife, Henrietta, of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Balch Elliott, of Decatur, and Anita Balch Halbrooks and husband, Tommy, of Hartselle; 10 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great nephews; and two great-great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Jones, Bill Hodges, Chris Hodges, Dustin Balch, Ashley Balch, Matt Balch and Jason Jones.
