Some say that he was from Giles Co., Tennesssee, which is right across the Northern border from Madison Co., Alabama. Chances are that his parents lived somewhere near the border between AL and TN.

His father is said to be Thomas Baldwin, born in Georgia.
His mother was born in Alabama.

He is on the 1940 census of Pulaski Co., MO, age between 20 and 29.

In Feb 1851 he married to Maguerite Rossignal dit Bleau, widow of Basil Bottineau.

In Sept. 1896 he filed and was granted a pension for his military service at Fort Snelling in the Minnesota Infantry. Appliation #224,904, Certificate #144,663.
