wife of Aaron, age 68 years

Newspaper clipping from VonTopal Scrapbook, Harwinton Historical Society.
DEATH OF MRS. BALDWIN.
Mrs. Aaron Baldwin of East Litchfield, an old resident living next to the C.A. McNeil place, died Friday morning. her health had not been good for some time. Mrs. Baldwin was very well known here by her constant trading expeditions. She was the business manager of the house. One day she would come to town with a prime bargain to offer in geese. Another she would bring a bag of potatoes or a basket of grapes. Sometimes it was a litter of puppies down on the farm. Eggs, potatoes, peas, ducks or sweet corn, it was always something. She never misrepresented. Mrs. Baldwin was thrifty and has been known to toss a box of four hundred dollars in loose money into lap of a party she owed twenty and tell him to take his pay, knowing to a penny whether he took more than his due.
