Margaret Ireta Adams, 86, of Rutledge, Missouri passed away Tuesday evening June 1, 2004 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.
Born April 14, 1918 on a farm in LaPrairie, Illinois, Margaret was the fifth of ten children born to John Truman and Matilda Harrington Balfour. On July 4, 1941 she was married to Robert Lincoln Adams, "Banjo Bob", who preceded her in death on January 11, 1993.
Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, two siblings in infancy and four brothers, Russell Balfour, Joe Balfour, Lawrence Balfour and Herschel Balfour.
She is survived by two children, Gwen Laudwig and husband Wayne of Greentop, MO and Margaret Bray of Graysville, IN; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Smith of Memphis, MO, Loretta Walter of LaBelle, MO and Florence McPherson of Edina, MO and many nieces and nephews.
After the death of their mother in 1932 the children were seperated and sent to various homes while their father searched for employment. Margaret attended school in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Ilinois and graduated from high school in Richmond Heights, Missouri in 1937. The family was eventually reunited and moved to a farm near Rutledge. During her life's journey Margaret and her family shared many blessings and tragedies which always drew them to each other in love and support.
Margaret became a Christian and was baptized in 1941. She dedicated her life to the Lord's work. She was a member of the Memphis Christian Church. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, making quilts and being with her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 5, 2004 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. Brother Lloyd Pelfrey will officiate. Burial will be at the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, Missouri.
