He married Cynthiann Gilbert in Ohio on December 31, 1857. Records do not indicate that any children were born to them. Cynthiann passed away on July 28, 1918, while they were living in Benton County, Minnesota, and she was buried there.
Amos then moved to Los Angeles County, California where he died on July 5, 1928, at the age of 91.
