SISTER VIRGINIA BALL, SND of Ipswich, died peacefully at the Sisters of Notre Dame Julia Billiart Retirement Center in Ipswich. Sister Virginia was born Barbara Helen Ball in Dorchester on November 22, 1922, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Anderson) Ball. Sister Virginia entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on August 4, 1940 and professed her Perpetual Vows on July 30, 1948. Sister Virginia's ministries were in Somerville, South Boston, Cambridge, South Boston, Worcester, Tyngsboro, Cincinnati, and Ipswich. Sister Virginia is survive by her many Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur family, her siblings, Sr. Marie Henry Ball, SND Worcester, her nieces, Virginia Lagos, Clare White, Barbara Lee, and Mary Marini, her nephews, James, Frederick, Donald, and Robert Ritchie. She was predeceased by her siblings, Fr. Henry W. Ball, SJ, Sr. Catherine St. Alice Ball, SND and Mary Ritchie.
