Barbara "Betty" Bernice Seib Ball, 90, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2015 in Paradise Valley, AZ.

An Arizona native, she was born in Phoenix on January 23, 1925 to Arizona pioneers,
Bernard and Leda Seib.

She grew up celebrating Thanksgiving in the desert under the Lady at the Alter, which is now known as the Praying Monk on Camelback Mountain. Betty attended North High and Phoenix Community College before taking a job at Thunderbird Field in Glendale, AZ to help with the war effort. She married Germain Harmon Ball, another Phoenix native of a pioneering family in 1946. Betty was active in the community in her early years. She was one of the first docents at the Phoenix Art Museum in the 1960's. She also volunteered recording books on tape for the blind. She enjoyed art and decorating and redecorating her home in the valley and in the mountains. A gracious, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, Betty was the best listener and a calm influence except on that rare occasion when she could be a fierce advocate when it came to defending the rights of her two daughters.

At the end of the day you could always find her on her porch or by a window communing with nature. She was a devoted wife and loved following Germain on the golf course at the White Mountain Country Club in the summers starting in 1959. They loved entertaining family and friends. Betty was independent until one month before passing.

Betty is survived by her sister Dorothy Jorgensen; daughters Kathy Glimpse (John) and Barbara Ball; grandsons Andrew Hochhaus (Naomi), Barrett Hochhaus (Maico); granddaughter Elizabeth Ball and great-grandchildren Sophie, Allison, Jasmine, Angela, Mayu and William.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Germain, who passed away in 2010.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association at www.Lung.org or the Desert Oasis Hospice at www.desertoasishospice.com. Her family would like to thank all the caregivers during Mom's last month, the Terraces and especially Jamie and Matt Kimmel at Constant Care Assisted Living.
