LaVerne Geraldine (Ballinger) Allsop, age 94, passed away January 26, 2016 in Defiance, Ohio. She was born September 13, 1921 in Ada, Oklahoma. She worked as a crossing guard for the Sheriff's Department in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California. LaVerne attended the Four Square Church when her children were young, in recent years, the Mormon church. LaVerne is survived by her children, Patty (Freddie) Hamma, Tommy Hinley, Gale Tapp, and Dale (Candy) Sulser; 10 grandchildren, Eugene, Sara, Bret, Guy, Carrie, Cecelia, Hannah, Dale Jr., Mike, and Liana;14 great grandchildren, Owen, Ethan, Lucas, McKayla, Emily, Daniel, Elijah, Benjamin, Annabelle, Delilah, Johnathon, Madison, Brady, Rilee, Soleil, and Serenity; sisters, Betty Stieferman, and Joyce Webb. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Shirley Patton, and Louise Hinley, brother, Thomas Ballinger, and sister, Dorothy Crawford. Services will be held in Napoleon, Ohio and Riverside, California, where burial will take place at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Riverside.
