RICHMOND, Ind. – Rooksie Edna Abney, age 95, of Richmond, died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Reid Hospital. Born April 8, 1916, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to Marion and Addie M. Anglin Ballinger, she lived in Richmond most of her life. Rooksie retired from Belden as an inspector after 30 years. She loved gardening, working with flowers and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her sisters, Rita L. Cummins of Richmond and Oneida (Ray) Davis of Indianapolis; nephew and caregiver, Tom (Ella) Cummins of Richmond and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burgess Abney who died in 1991; her parents; brothers, William A. and Amos B. Ballinger; and brother-in-law, Nathan Cummins. Visitation for Rooksie Edna Abney will be from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, at Earlham Cemetery with Rev. Walter Ballinger officiating.
