Lansford "Lance" Banks was the son of Cassandra Banks & Anderson Fields. Cassandra was not married.
He was the Descendant of Henry Banks, his grandfather.
Lance had three wives. He first married Heatty Virginia Jane Miles in 1861 and divorced on November 24, 1864. They had no children.
He married Drucilla Kelly on November 30, 1864 in Clay County, Kentucky. They had seven children; Martha Jane, Juhn, Ulysses Grant, Rachel A, Cassie Elizabeth and Alia Banks.
His third marriage was to Harriet Delither Hunter, daughter of George Washington Hunter & Edith Elizabeth "Lizzie" Massey from North Carolina. They had eight children; David, Ellen, Louis Anderson, Elizabeth C., James Nathaniel, Sarah E., Louis Anderson, Andrew Jackson, and Drucilla Banks.
Lansford and Harriet owned a farm "Gray Hawk Farm", where their children grew up.
Lance was a Civil War Hero. He first enlisted in Kentucky on the Union side during the American Civil War, on October 13, 1862. On December 15, 1862 in Owsley County, Kentucky, Lance enrolled in Company L, the 14th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry (Union Army), at the age of 20. August 31, 1863 he was at Boonville, Kentucky. March 24, 1864 he mustered out at Camp Nelson.
He was a Baptist Minister at Coenith Baptist Church, after the war.
Lance retired and applied for military Pension in 1898. He died in 1908 at Gray Hawk, Sexton Creek, Clay, Kentucky. He was buried at Hunter Cemetery.
