Addie May Smith was born June 21, 1917 in Clay County and departed this life Saturday, September 19, 2009 at her residence in London, being 92 years of age. She was the daughter of the late James & Ellen (Chandler) Banks. Addie is survived by the following children- Raymond Smith of Lily, KY, Elmer Smith of Florence, KY, Jimmy Smith of Lily, KY, Boyce Smith of Crab Orchard, KY, Emmitt Dowell Smith of Somerset, KY, Bimbo Smith of McKee, KY, Bonnie Lois Bowles of East Bernstadt, KY, Sue Hall of Cincinnati, OH and Patty Clouse of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by one sister- Minnie Poppywell of Cincinnati, OH. She was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Addie was also preceded in death by her husband- Charlie Smith; by three children- Jerry Wayne Smith, Edna Paul and Martha Land and by the following brothers and sisters- Charlie Banks, Bass Banks, Carlo Banks, Tony Banks, Dorothy Scott, Ruby Wilson, Arlie Banks & Allie Banks. Addie was of the Baptist Faith. Funeral service was held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Smith and Bro. Carlo Davidson officiating. Burial followed in the Wilson Cemetery in Clay County. Pallbearers were Emmitt D. Smith, Elmer Smith, Clarence Chestnut, Elmer Chestnut, Lonnie Smith, Zachery Hall, Boyce Smith Jr. and Jonathan Carpenter.
