Lillian O'Steen Barbara Backer, age 87, widow of the late Joseph Barbara and Albert Backer, Jr., passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 2, 1924 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Allen O'Steen and Maude Sundy of Blackshear, Georgia. Lillian is survived by her two sisters: Norma O'Steen Keith and Jean O'Steen Copeland. Lillian had one brother the late Allen "Brooks" O'Steen. She was the proud mother of 4 daughters and one son, the late Jo Ann Barbara Stein, Carol Barbara Kahn, Catherine Barbara McKinney, Lillian Pauline Barbara and Philip Garland Barbara. Lillian had nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Lillian will be laid to rest in a private Catholic Graveside Service at the Evergreen Cemetery in St. Augustine, Florida beside her beloved parents and brother. Her favorite organizations were the Humane Society and Meals-on-Wheels. Donations may be made in her name to either organization. May Lillian rest in peace with the Lord.
