2005 obituary. SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - Lucille Annette Ahearn, 87, of South Richland Street, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at a Portland hospital following a brief illness. She was born on Jan. 12, 1918, in Manchester, N.H., a daughter of Arthur and Alexandrine (Boutin) Barbeau, and attended schools in both Manchester and Canada. She graduated from high school in Washington, D.C., and in 1940 from the Portsmouth Hospital School of Nursing in New Hampshire. In 1942, she married James M. Ahearn in Portsmouth, N.H. He predeceased her on June 25, 2001. She practiced nursing in Portsmouth, N.H. She then worked as a private-duty nurse in Portland and South Portland through the 1960s while raising a family. She then worked at Casco Paper Box, Portland Port Authority and Automatic Sprinkler Company until she was 78, when she retired to care for her husband. She enjoyed extensive travel into her mid-80s and was very proud of her French heritage, especially the fact that she was bilingual.
