Secretary of the Standard Car Truck Company of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Barber was found dead on the tracks of the South Side Elevated Railroad near 26th Street on Sunday, January 5, 1908. The circumstances seemed to indicate that he had absent-mindedly left the train at the 26th Street station and, upon realizing his error, attempted to board the train again, but fell and was killed. Mr. Barber was the brother of J. C. Barber, president of the Standard Car Truck Company, and for ten years had been secretary of the company. Prior to that, he had been employed by the G. S. Roswell Manufacturing Company of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. (from Railway Age, January 10, 1908)
