She was the former co-owner, along with her late husband, of Hazel's Restaurant in New Castle, a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Darlington, and the Women's Auxiliary of the BPO Elks, Beaver Falls. She enjoyed cooking, landscaping and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ash, on July 24, 2006; a brother William Barkley; and nine half brothers and sisters. She is survived by her twin brother, Henry Barkley, and his wife, Winifred, of New Castle; two nieces, Carol Wimer of Polk, Pa., and Beth Unger and her husband, Donald, of Pittsburgh; two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and Ann Ash of Towanda, N.Y., and Randall W. and Melissa Ash of Huntington, W.Va.; twin sisters Ruth Hall of the Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington, and Edith Stevenson of Inverness, Fl., and a sister, Bertha Seckler of Inverness, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many loved great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
