SPEARMAN — Gertrude B. Archer, 95, formerly of Spearman, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holt Cemetery with John Scott officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Gertrude was born Oct. 22, 1917, to Gertrude and A.F. Barkley. She was the youngest in a family of four children. She graduated in 1935 from Spearman High School and married the love of her life, Robert Barton Archer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.B.; her parents, Gertrude and A.F. Barkley; a grandson, John Pool; and three siblings, Virginia Renfro, Freeman Barkley and Reba Huffhines.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Williams and Patten Anne Hamilton; a son-in-law, Richard Hamilton; five grandchildren, Jim Pool, Darleen Blair, Cynthia Bishop, Bart Hamilton and Kristi Conner; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Hansford County Library in Spearman, 122 Main St., Spearman, TX 79081; Accolade Hospice, 5201 Indiana Ave., Lubbock, TX 79413; Holt Cemetery Association, 10239 Farm to Market Road 281, Spearman, TX 79081; or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
