Visitation will be Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Beersheba Cemetery with Rev. Tim Lee officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home Columbus, MS directing.
Mrs. Barksdale was born on May 14, 1940, in Ethelsville, AL to the late Catherine Kemp Whitten and Troy Whitten. She attended Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Barksdale enjoyed dancing, going to the junction, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barksdale is preceded in death by her husband- Billy Wayne Barksdale.
Mrs. Barksdale is survived by her daughters- Theresa (Rodney) Moore of Columbus, MS, and Karen (Rhett) Dozier of Columbus, MS; son- Tim (Dixie) Barksdale from Soso, MS; grandchildren- Amanda (Richard) Barton, Stephanie (Roy) McAlister, Brandon (Carrie) Dozier, Jay Moore, Macy (Josh) Cox, Brayden Barksdale, and Landry Barksdale; great-grandchildren- Haley (Robert) Reed, Dylan Barton, Brody Barton, Alyssa McAlister, Carter Moore, Quinn McAlister, Madison Dozier, and Mackenzie Dozier; brothers- Troy (Sue) Whitten and Terry (Sharon) Whitten; and sister- Patsy Allen.
Pallbearers will be Butch Edmonson, Gentry Sanford, Chris Buster, Willie Mack Johnson, Shan Higdon, and Donnie Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Eka Chemical and New Hope Elementary and High School.
