Lieutenant Colonel Paul Jonathan Barlow (Retired), 73, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013, at his home in Clinton, Mississippi. He died as he lived, surrounded by his family worshipping and singing praises to the Lord.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, on Friday, December 27, 2013, and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church in Clinton. The celebration service will be at Wildwood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Graveside services will be immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Elton and Louise Barlow. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Nell Russell Barlow; three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula Barlow DeYoung (Danny) of Clinton, Marla Barlow Fisher (Jay), of San Antonio, Texas, and Michelle Barlow Richardson (Michael) of Arlington, Virginia; a sister, Rachel Barlow Gibson (Charles), of Byram; a granddaughter, Callen Mason DeYoung, five grandsons, Garrett Ty DeYoung, Tanner Scott DeYoung, Carsson Wade DeYoung, Noel Blaine Fisher, and Jonathan Luke Fisher; and numerous caring nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lt. Col. Barlow retired as the Commander of the 172nd Civil Engineering Squadron and Base Engineer, Mississippi Air National Guard, in Jackson, where he served his country and state for over 31 years. After retirement from the Guard, he became Assistant Director of the Bureau of Building, Grounds and Real Property Management for the State of Mississippi. He began his career with the US Soil Conservation Service and continued it at the Mississippi Research and Development Center.

Born on August 11, 1940, in Jackson, as the son of a Southern Baptist minister, Paul lived in over a dozen communities throughout Mississippi. A 1958 graduate of Yocona High School, he earned his associate's degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College, bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University, and master's degree from the University of Mississippi. A proud alumnus of Mississippi State University, Paul was active in his church and community. His many activities included spending time on his farm, supporting local athletics, and serving as Head Usher and Chairman of Deacons in his church as well as President of the Jackson-West/Clinton Camp of Gideons International.
