Frank Lawrence Barnby, age 81 of Onaway, Michigan, a lifetime resident of Onaway, died November 23, 2006 at his home.

Frank was born in Tower on January 2, 1925 to Frank and LaVona (Hunt) Barnby. On September 4, 1947 he was married to Marguerite L. DeRosia in Onaway.

Frank worked for 15 years for H&D, but most remember him for his work and love for the woods. He was a member of the Tower Baptist Church.

He also was a World War II veteran who served from 1943-1946 for the United States Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He achieved the rank of Gunner's Mate, Second Class.

Frank took great pleasure in restoring Model T's and taking care of his cattle. He also loved making maple syrup, playing cards and dominoes, and traveling with his wife before her death in 2001.

Frank will be sadly missed by his daughters, Eva (Dan) Milbocker of Millersburg, Emmalene Barnby of Onaway, and Ella (Randy) Fowler of Swartz Creek; sons, R.B. (Lorri) Barnby of Baltimore, Maryland, David (Mary) Barnby of Onaway, and Raymond (Nancy) Barnby of Onaway, Michigan; and 23 grandchildren. He will also be missed by sisters, Eunice (Willard) Bishop of Onaway and Evelyn (Lawrence) Bishop of Onaway.

Frank Barnby was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marguerite; brothers, Menzo and Arthur Barnby; sisters, Eleanor French, Elizabeth Bishop, and Elaine McNeil; and a great grandson.
