Frances Barnes, 80, of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007. Frances was a faithful member of the Zoar Baptist Church, serving actively on the choir and usher boards. She was a graduate of Musgrove School and continued her education at the Southampton County Training School in Courtland, Va. Employed with the Essex County Geriatric Center for more than 27 years, she was a resident of Newark for over 60 years. Frances Barnes was the beloved wife for over 50 years of the late George L. Barnes; loving mother of Roy Barnes, Gloria Johnson, Mitchell Barnes, Michael Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Cynthia Barnes, Regina Barnes-Hall, Cecile Williams, and the late Melvin and Renee Barnes; dear mother-in-law of Cathy Barnes, Angela Barnes, Al-Nisa Barnes, Kelvin Johnson, and Marty Williams. She is also survived by her 23 precious grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren, other relatives and friends.
