He was born in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. He lived in Anderson all of his life until moving to Lake St. Louis in 1997.

He retired in 2001 from General Motors after 23 years of service. He worked from 1977 to 1997 at Guide in Anderson and from 1997-2000 at the Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri.

He was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church in O'Fallon, Missouri. He was an active member of the UAW Local #2250 and a 20 year member of the UAW Local #663.

He is survived by his wife whom he married December 31, 1996: Lana S. (VanOsdol) Barnett. Son: David Ross Barnett of Chesterfield. Daughter: Kristina Lynn (Barnett) Ray of Anderson. Mother: Lillie (Braden) Barnett of Madsonville, Kentucky. Brother: Bruce O. Barnett of Spring Hill, Tennessee. Sisters: Dawn (Barnett) Miller of Henderson, Kentucky. Bonnie (Barnett) Johnson of Austin, Kentucky. One Niece, Five Nephews, Two Aunts, Two Uncles and Seven Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father: Owen Barnett. Brother: Kyle Barnett.
