Peggy was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on January 23, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cora Barnett. Passed on January 8, 2015 in LaFontaine, Indiana.

In 1941 Peggy moved to Marion where she worked for Crest Lanes and Plaza Bowl doing secretarial office work. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing and in her early years she played in several bands. She also loved to bowl and was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and in 1978 she was inducted into the Marion Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. Peggy married Paul D. Abbott on November 24, 1959. They were married for 46 years. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2006.

She is survived by her son-Ronald Pence, 2 step-children- Greg (Janet Nuckles) Abbott, Terry Abbott, 2 brothers- Chester Barnett, Roy Barnett, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; 4 sisters- Betty (Stanley) Gibbs, Berdie (John) Bowman, Kentucky; Christine Havens, Cordie Ann Holloway, Cookville, 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews

Peggy is also preceded in death by her step-son, Paul D. Abbott, Jr.
