The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Barret, Thomas graduated from Westminster College in 1861. He taught at a private school in Mexico, Missouri for the next several years, before deciding to become a preacher. He was a Presbyterian minister and earned a Doctorate of Divinity.

He married Sophia Baptista Muschany about 1866, and they were the parents of 2 children.

He was a preacher at several different churches over the years. He had a church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and O'Fallon, Missouri. Beginning in 1880, Dr. Barret was the minister at Mizpah Presbyterian Church on St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton, St. Louis County, Missouri. He left the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas on 01 May 1895. By 1900, he was a preacher in Ray County, Missouri. He returned to Mizpah for the third and final time in 1905. In 1908, he was elected moderator of the Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church.

Thomas died at his home from complications following surgery. At the time of his death, he was 75 years, 1 month and 1 day old.

He was survived by his wife and 1 son, LeRoy Barret.

In addition to his mother and father, Thomas was preceded in death by 1 son, Robert Barret; and a sister, Cora Conway

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of 19 Jun 1916 at the Mizpah Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton.

Thomas' wife, Sophia, passed away in 1935 and was buried next to him.

Children: 2 sons.

REV. T. C. BARRET, PASTOR IN
MISSOURI 50 YEARS, DIES


Rev. T. C. Barret of Pattonville, St. Louis County, who has served as a minister in various cities in Missouri fifty years, died at his residence yesterday morning. Death resulted after an operation in a St. Louis hospital.

Rev. Barret was 75 years old and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophia Barret, and one son, Le Roy Barret, an instructor at Trinity College, Hartford, Conn.

Rev. Barret was born in 1841, and was graduated at Westminster College in 1861. He taught for several years in a private school in Mexico, Mo., then entered the pulpit. He has been pastor of the Mizpah Presbyterian Church in Pattonville three times, serving the last period from 1905. He was also a preacher in Cape Girardeau and O'Fallon, Mo.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be in Fee Fee Cemetery, St. Louis County.
