BALSER, MARION - 1928 – 2013 - Marion Balser, 85, of Stoney Creek, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Manor, Riverview on Thursday, November 7, 2013. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Barrie. In 1945, she married William Henry Balser Sr. of Stoney Creek, as a war bride and she soon moved to Canada to raise a family. Marion was an active member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Hillsborough, St. Mary's ACW, the Canadian War Brides Association, Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, Frank H. Tingley #5 O.E.S. and Nereides Temple #7 Daughters of the Nile and a member of the Mildred Bennett Chapter of the I.O.D.E. She was a former volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Legion Branch #6 and was passionate about dancing. From 1957 to 1988, Marion was a formidable presence at Eaton’s Department store in Moncton and retired as Hosiery Department Manager. Marion is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years; two sons; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, one sister; as well as nieces and nephews in Scotland. In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by brothers, Alex, Bobby and George.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton (858-1995) with no visitation hours by personal request. Funeral Service at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 11:00 am, with The Rev. Brent Ham, The Rev. Rod Black and Pastor Liz Wall officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Grey's Island Cemetery, Hillsborough. Frank H. Tingley #5 O.E.S. Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Service. Marion's family would like to express their appreciation to everyone at Lakeview Manor in Riverview for their loving care. They will be remembered as her extended family.
