This very special and talented lady was born Adalade Mae to Claiborne Smith Allison and Mary Elizabeth Hall Allison in Hill County, Texas. She had 5 brothers and 4 sisters as follows: Lorenzo, Mary Jane "Janie", Cornelis, Arminda "Minnie", James Arthur, Joseph Lee, Anna Ida "Annie", Albert Agustus "Gus", and Catherine May "Katie". Addie married Leander C. "Babe" Barrow and raised four children: Melvin, Ruby, Miriam "Polk", and Floyd "Dick". Addie moved from North Texas to Freer, Duval County, Texas in the late 1930s where she lived the remainder of her life until she was placed in a nursing home in nearby San Diego, Duval County, Texas. My life was blessed tremendously by this loving great-grandmother. It was always a good day when I would be allowed to stop by my great-grandma's house on my walk home from school. If she knew I was coming by she would have the dominoes or chinese checkers on the kitchen table. I think of her often and know that she was one of the great women that touched my life.
