Jane Elizabeth Barrow was a very active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Lady Washington Chapter in Houston. She served in various offices including State of Texas DAR Regent 1946-49, Vice President General 1949-1952, Corresponding Secretary General 1953-56 and as chairman of many national committees.
She was born August 1, 1897 in Allen County, Kansas to John Wallis Ewing and Alice Elizabeth Sweet.
She married Edward Rowland Barrow, who was described as a dashing aviator. They resided in San Antonio Tx where Mr. Barrow was an oil chemist. Mr. Barrow went into the insurance business and the family moved to Houston about 1926, where as a close associate of Gus Wortham, Mr. Barrow helped found the American General insurance company and became very prosperous.
