Mr. Barry was born in New Pine Creek to Michael and May (O'Neil) Barry. His early years were spent on the family ranch in Guano which is east of Adel.
In 1918, he moved with his family to Merrill, where he completed his education.
He spent the rest of his life in Merrill, the last 65 years in the same home with his wife, the former Bridget O'Connor. Mr. Barry was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church.
He had extensive historical knowledge on Southeastern Oregon.
Survivors include his wife, Bridget Barry of Merrill; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Joyce Barry of Silverdale, Wash., and Jack and Marilyn Barry of Kirkland, Wash., grandchildren and their spouses, Stacy and Robert Onstad of Seattle, Kevin and Jayme Barry of Bellevue, Wash., and Mike and Barbara Barry of Bothell, Wash., great-grandchildren, Stephanie Barry of Bothell and Jessica and Mack Barry of Bellevue; sisters, Nellie Wahlert of Nyssa and Ettie Pond of Anderson, Calif., a special niece, Virginia Parker Bellew of Richmond, Ind., and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony, John, and Emmett Barry, and sisters, Sister Mary Rosetta, Nan O'Brien and Nora Cashman.
