Barbara (Barb) Bartholomew, 80, died October 5, at home in Maple Grove, Minnesota where she moved from Rochester in 2009.

Barb was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 16, 1933, to Walter and Thelma Nothstein. She was the oldest of two girls. She graduated from Whitehall High School in Allentown, PA in 1951 and the Allentown School of Nursing in 1954. She married high school sweetheart Gerald Bartholomew in 1955 and they moved to Madison, WI where she worked as a nurse while he completed graduate school. They relocated to various New York locations and when they started their family, Barb transitioned to a stay-at-home mom. They moved to Rochester in 1962, where she raised her children. She kept busy outside the home teaching Sunday school at Peace UCC and volunteering for church, Cub Scouts, school activities and the Rochester Chamber Ballet. As her children became older she began working at Aldrich Nursery School and eventually went back to work as an RN at Methodist Hospital. Over the years she enjoyed singing in the church choir, bible study, reading, knitting, sewing and spending time with her family.

Barb is survived by her four children, Mike (CJ) of Maple Grove, Geri (Greg) Stewart of Plymouth, MN, Scott (Cindy) of Rice Lake, WI and Brian (Cindy) of New Albany, OH; seven grandchildren (Megan, Tucker, Angela, Alex, Heather, Ian and Alexia); and a sister, Elaine (Richard) Kantor, of Hellertown, PA. Barb was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 14, at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave N.E., with Pastor Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.

Memorials may be given to Peace United Church of Christ or the donor's choice of charity.
