Delmar Lloyd Bartholomew, 76, of West Concord, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester after a short battle with lung cancer.
He was born December 6, 1935 in Milton Township, Dodge County, Minnesota the son of Albert and Irene (Strieff) Bartholomew. He was a graduate of West Concord High School. He married Margret Cain on June 3, 1955. Delmar worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker in West Concord for many years. He also built many homes in the area. Delmar then owned and operated Wescon Lanes in West Concord for seven years. He later worked at Foldcraft for 12 years in the woodshop.
Delmar was an active member of the American Legion in West Concord. He served twenty years as a volunteer fireman for West Concord Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and enjoyed winning at the casino. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage doing woodworking, cabinetry and carpentry. He made doll cradles and barns for all his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Margret Bartholomew of West Concord; three daughters, Lori (and Rick Franzen) Ellingson of Concord, Kim (and Mike) Jones of West Concord, and Kelli (and Hal) Leland of Brainerd; one son, Scott (and Cindy) Bartholomew of Kasson; twelve grandchildren, Jeremy (and Jennifer) Ellingson, Derrik "Spike" (and Dani) Ellingson, Taylor Ellingson, Nathan (and Kelly) Jones, Brendt (and Leah) Jones, Krista (and Court Burke) Jones, Ben Leland, Nikki Leland, Cassi (and Brian) Garness, Jesica (and Rick) French, Adam Bartholomew, and Sam Bartholomew; ten great grandchildren; sister, Darlene (and John) Vrieze of Spring Valley; two brothers, Donald (and Sue) Bartholomew of Hamburg, and Bill (and LaVonne) Bartholomew of Maple Grove; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord with the Reverend Chris Brekke officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
