Charles Richard "Dick" Bartine was born in Waterloo, IA, on April 11, 1935, to Charles Amos and Darlene (Burns) Bartine.

After a very long journey, Dick passed from his earthly life on Friday, December 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's, followed by burial at Dunn Cemetery in rural St. Anthony.

Dick graduated from Clemons High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Mary Lyons on November 24, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Anthony, IA. Dick served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959, and then spent most of his years farming in central Iowa and helping raise his six daughters. Dick was an avid sportsman, enjoying baseball (St. Louis Cardinals), basketball, golf, bowling, fishing and hunting. Dick was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in State Center, the Knights of Columbus, and the NFO. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandpa, and a trusted neighbor and friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Mary; his six daughters, Kathy (Randy) Randall, Jennifer (John) Worley, Sue (Steve) Gradoville, Cheryl (Kevin) Halterman, Rachel (Don) Robinson and Pam (Jake) Sigmund; 15 grandchildren; 2 step granddaughters and 8 step-grandchildren; his sister Patricia (Norman) Rhodes; brother Mike (Ruth Ann) Bartine; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a grandson, a niece and two nephews. Dick and Mary's first great grandchild is due to be born any day.

The family would like to thank all the friends and neighbors who have helped us through this journey, along with Iowa River Hospice and the staff and residents of State Center Nursing and Rehab. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or the West Marshall Foundation
