BARTLETT, Chad Thomas, was struck and killed by a car as he was crossing the road from the school bus to his home on the 10th of February, 1986, in Apple Vally, Howard, Ohio. He was born in Mount Vernon, 3 November, 1971, the son of , Thomas E. & Candis (Kelly) Bartlett. Buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Mount Vernon. TJD2012

~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Tuesday, 11 February, 1986 - Student killed - Moments after he stepped from an East Knox school bus on Apple Vally Drive, Chad T. Bartlett, 14, Orchard View Drive, was struck and killed by this car (pictured) Monday at 3:30 p.m. Sheriff deputies said the car was driven by Keven (omitted), 18, Walhonding. The car was northbound and went out of control upon nearing the scene where the school bus had just stopped. The car slid broadside off the road and onto the grassy area where Bartlett was walking. Bartlett was dead at the scene despite the efforts of school bus driver David (omitted), Gambier, who administered CPR to the victim untill Danville and Howard emergency squadsmen arrived. (omitted) was treated at Knox Community Hospital for injuries along with his passengers in the car, Kelly (omitted), 15, and Traci (omitted), 13, both of Howard. ~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Tuesday, 11 February, 1986 - Chad Thomas Bartlett, 14, of 19 Orchard View Court, Apple Vally, died Monday afternoon from injuries he recieved when struck by a vehicle. Born Nov. 3, 1971 in Mount Vernon, he had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area. He was a member of the eighth grade class at East Knox School, and had attended the Mount Vernon Middle School until December 1985. He was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Mount Vernon Middle School eighth grade wrestling team, had played baseball for Jody's Little League baseball team, and played one year for Uhlmans Babe Ruth baseball team. Surviving are his father and stepmother, (omitted) and (omitted) of Mount Vernon; his stepfather and mother, (omitted) and (omitted) Finnell of Apple Vally; maternal grandmother, (omitted) Gamble of Mount Vernon; paternal grandmother, Mrs. (omitted) Bartlett of Mount Vernon; step-grandparents, (omitted) and (omitted) Finnell Sr. of Danville, and (omitted) and (omitted) of Mount Vernon; greatgrandmothers, Iva Frye and Bessie Johnson, both of Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher R. Bartlett; and grandfathers, Richard Frye and Henry Bartlett. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
