Anna B. (Burke) Barton, 92, of Millville, passed away, Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Philadelphia, she grew up in Dividing Creek and moved to Millville. She graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1935, and then went to Rudemar School of Beauty in Philadelphia. She also attended Temple University. She and her brother Harry operated her family's store, Burke's Market, which ran from 1922 until 1970. Mrs. Barton also worked as a housekeeper for Father O'mearin at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Millville. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church of Millville. As a youth, she enjoyed swimming across Union Lake many times, and loved being outdoors. She was an accomplished seamstress, and loved to knit, sew, and crochet, especially afghans. Mrs. Barton was an avid Eagles fan. She enjoyed people and socializing. She was deeply loved by her family and her two dogs, Misty and Cody, and her sense of humor will be sadly missed by those who knew her.

Mrs. Barton is survived by her daughter, Melanie Ann (Delaney) Dick and husband Erwin of Millville; one sister, Mary B. West of Bridgeton; her grandchildren, Major Erwin Dick III of Tampa, Fla., Kevin Dick and Robin of Millville, Barbara Ann Valinotti and husband Colonel Vincent of Warrington, Pa; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Amanda Valinotti, and Kevin M. Dick.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Charles Delaney and John Barton; her parents, Nicholas and Melanie "Mary" (Hrushchak) Burke; and one brother, Harry.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church, Buck and Depot streets, Millville. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
