James W. Basie, 86, of 214 West Bergen pl., died Sunday in his home. He was a
member of the AME Zion church, Red Bank.

Surviving are a brother, Harvey L. Basie of Red Bank, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle B.
Williams, with whom he lived. Mr. Basie was an uncle of Count Basie, famous jazz
pianist and band leader from Red Bank.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in AME Zion church with Rev. Charles E.
Bourne, pastor, officiating. Burial, under the direction of the F. Leon Harris
funeral home, Red bank, will be in White Ridge cemetery.
