Marjorie Anderson, retired teacher, at 86
Marjorie (Bates) Anderson, 86, formerly of Whately and a retired teacher in Ashfield and Goshen, died on Thursday in an Enfield nursing home.
Before retirement several years ago, she was a substitute teacher in the Whately school system.
Born in Ashfield, she was a graduate of Sanderson Academy there. She lived in Ashfield as a child, and moved to Whately as an adult. She was a member of the Whately Congregational Church.
Her husband, Fordyce Anderson, died in 1948.
She leaves two daughters, Louise A. Lindell of Somers, Conn., and Aldine K. Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Florence Scott of Buckland, and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, Wallace in 1952 and Richard in 1967.
The funeral will be on Sunday afternoon at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls, with burial during the spring at Plain Cemetery in Ashfield. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Church, Whatley, 01093.
