Adrian J. Bates

Adrian J. Bates, 67, a resident of Linneus, died Friday at a Houlton hospital after a short illness.

He was born at Moro Plantation on March 1, 1902, the son of Charles F. and Percia E. Moody Bates. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Houlton, Monument Lodge AF&AM, Aroostook Chapter, RAM, and St. Aldemar Commandery, all of Houlton, the Houlton Grange and Pamona Grange.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ressa Estabrook Bates of Linneus; two sons, Roger and Darrell both of Houlton, two brothers, Philip of South Bend, Ind., and Freeman of Bangor, one sister, Mrs. Helen Mason of Riverside, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Buzza officiating.

Interment will be in a Linneus cemetery.


Adrian Jasper Bates was born in Moro Plantation,Aroostook, Maine,the youngest of eleven children. His wife's full name was Ressa Lois Estabrook. Adrian was a very successful farmer in Linneus, Maine.
