Cecelia A. (nee Phalines) Batten, 95, formerly of Woodbury, NJ died peacefully in Homeland Center in Harrisburg, PA on August 26, 2011.
Cecelia was a graduate of Woodbury High School where she excelled in academics and sports. She was inducted into the Gloucester County Hall of Fame for her prowess in basketball. Cecelia went to Temple University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a pharmacist for many years at Underwood Hospital in Woodbury and Park Towne Pharmacy in National Park, NJ. Family was most important to Cel. Her home was the place where friends and family gathered, especially on holidays. Her small kitchen continually produced a multitude of delicious food.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas, her grandson, Peter and brothers, Peter, Ben and Richard. She was the devoted mother of Barbara Erzen, (Edward), Paulette Kostin, Jessica Conaboy, and Mary Batten Kelly (Patrick); proud grandmother of 14 and great grandmother of 13.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wed., Sept. 7, 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ. Funeral Mass Wed. 11 a.m., in Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick RC Church, Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
