Nina Battle Ball
Nina Battle Ball, 88, formerly of 4630 Woodleaf Road, died Monday (July 6, 1998) at Brian Center and Rehabilitation, Salisbury, after several years of declining health.
Born March 19, 1910, in Swain County, Mrs. Ball, a daughter of the late Thomas Milton and Arie Grant Battle, was educated in the Buncombe County schools. Retired in 1968 from Western Carolina University, she had been a dietitian for food services for 10 years. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church, the Mary Ella Bible Class and Leverne Applewhite Circle.
Her husband, Reginald Anderson Ball, died March 16, 1993.
Survivors include son Reginald E. Ball, Linwood; daughter, Salisbury; sisters Mrs. Mitch (Mary) Plemmons, Mrs. Hillard (Bonnie) Ingle and Mrs. Harry (Dot) Robinson, all of West Asheville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Noon Wednesday, Enon Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joel Langley, associate pastor, Enon Baptist, and Dr. Michael D. Kurtz, pastor, Milford Hills United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial church cemetery.
Visitation: 11-11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Summersett Funeral Home in charge.
